Jackie Ellens also known as Jacqueline is a popular artist who lived in 4 states and 2 countries because of her army background. She spent her teenage years in Michigan area, where her family settled. When she was a young adult she attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she majored in fine arts. After completing her school, she showed her fabric sculptures, prints, and paintings throughout the tri-state area before moving to the New York City. In NYC, she landed a job in a small ad-agency where she learned about tools of trade working on print ads.
In the early eighties, she also joined a creative group of HBO and spent 8 years working in Manhattan. She moved to Mississippi after her marriage and lived in the Jackson metro area for more than 20 years. She also worked for the local NBC affiliate while living there.
Today, she is a proud owner of Southern Breeze Gallery. She is known for painting landscapes from her travels and images from her Mississipi life. In her paintings, you will often see friends, animals, and Southern landscape. She feels that world is trembling with an energy and shows it in her paintings with expressive and robust stroke.
