Nano Lopez

We have 107 Nano Lopez pieces live on the site right now, priced from $2,400 up to $233,800, median around $10,100. That's an unusually wide span for one sculptor, and it holds together because the surface language stays consistent from the smallest piece to the largest. Bronze, turquoise, and a surface that keeps talking Every piece starts as cast bronze, then gets patina work in warm golds set against turquoise, and then the decoration that makes a Nano Lopez piece recognizable from across a room: honeycomb patterning, small inscribed letters and numbers, gears, buttons, a butterfly worked into a shoulder or a base. "Leonardo" is a lion carrying a rabbit and a guitar, gears and red leather straps across his frame, a base carved to read as prairie terrain underfoot. "Edison" is a cat with numbers and gears pressed into the surface and a small soccer ball resting against his tail. None of that is applied after casting — it's part of the mold, part of the piece from the start. The catalog splits across recognizable groups — 59 pieces tagged as land animals, 26 large-format works, 21 small, 18 figurative, 12 built around species considered endangered in the wild, and smaller runs of dragons, fairies, and sea creatures. "Olivia Medium" is a reclining giraffe with turquoise-tipped ossicones and a small bird perched on her spotted back; "Sherlock Small" is a weathered terrier cast in an edition of 1,600; "Henry, Stella, & the Twins" stacks a family of four bronze fish in a vertical spiral rising out of a sculpted water-splash base. A handful of the largest works also come in their own size options — 5-foot and 8-foot versions of the same design — for anyone filling real floor space instead of a tabletop. Edition sizes are recorded on 83 of the 107 pieces we carry. The tightest is a true edition of one — "Edison Medium." The widest recorded run is 2,800, on a piece called "Sarah." A number of pieces in between also come as an Artist Proof or Foundry Copy variant — the foundry's own retained casts, outside the numbered edition, traditionally fewer in number than any single run and priced above a standard numbered piece for that reason. What's actually left Two pieces are down to their last copy: "Eighteen," in the signed and numbered edition, and "Arthur Small." The artist-proof casts of "Eighteen" and "Sally" have sold through completely, too — a reminder that an AP run is usually smaller than the numbered edition it sits alongside, and empties first. Forty-nine Tolla Inbar bronzes are live on the site right now, and size is the most dramatic thing about the collection — some pieces sit comfortably on a bookshelf, others top eight feet and need floor space of their own. Prices run $3,100 to $102,850, median $23,000. Dark figures, gold rope, a story every time Inbar's work returns to the same two elements in different configurations: a dark-patina bronze human figure, paired with something in a warmer gold patina — a rope, a second figure, a puzzle piece — that the dark figure is climbing, trusting, or reaching toward. The long-running "Circle of Life" series (we currently carry numbers 9, 11, 12, and 13) stacks figures into a wheel with no visible start or end. "Puzzled" and "Puzzled Small" turn the same idea into figures navigating oversized interlocking pieces. "Free Motion" has two figures scaling a coiled gold rope. It's a tight, recognizable visual language across a genuinely large body of work. Size breaks down clearly across the collection: 16 pieces run under 100cm, 22 more sit in the 100–150cm range, 9 from 150–200cm, 16 from 200–250cm, another 16 from 250–350cm, and 3 that run past 350cm — true monuments. "Sky High II," at over eight feet, shows the visual language at its most dramatic: a dark bronze figure dives horizontally through space, tethered only by a golden rope held by a steadfast figure below. The finish varies too — mostly a dark bronze patina, though a few pieces use verdigris instead, the pale blue-green surface that develops on aged bronze. Sizing and lead time, not scarcity Most of these designs come in more than one size — the variant list for a single piece can run 100cm, 110cm, 115cm, 120cm and up, so the same design is often orderable at more than one scale rather than existing as one fixed cast. We don't track a shrinking on-hand count against this collection the way we do a tight limited edition; what matters more here is which size you want and how long it takes to get to you, not "how many are left." No one I've sold a Tolla to has ever called back with regret. That's easier to believe once you've seen one of these delivered — a dark bronze figure at this scale changes how a room feels, in a way a product photo just doesn't get across. Anything over 200cm ships crated, usually by freight rather than parcel carrier. Chris Barela

Chris Barela's is the tightest collection we carry — 16 pieces live on the site, all bronze, all Hawaii sea life, priced $340 to $9,055, median $1,020. Where some of our sculptors range across dozens of subjects, this one has stayed close to reef and open-water creatures, cast small enough to sit on a shelf. Small bronzes, tight editions Sizes vary more than you'd expect from a collection this size. The "Keiki" series — three color options, blue, green-and-yellow, green-and-blue — is barely an inch tall, cast at 1 by 3 by 2.5 inches in editions of 500, priced at $340, the floor of what we carry from Barela. At the other end, "Sunny," a bronze octopus, runs 14.5 by 7.25 by 18.5 inches in an edition of 250, and at $9,055 it's the most expensive piece in the line. "Creeper," at 17 by 13 by 9 inches, comes close to it in scale for a fraction of the price, also in an edition of 250. Editions are recorded on 15 of the 16 pieces, running from 250 casts up to 750 — "Violet" is the only piece in the line that reaches that number. Two of the pieces are turtles: "Honu," the Hawaiian word for green sea turtle, and "Sidekick, bronze turtle," each cast in an edition of 250. An edition of 250 to 750 is tight compared to a lot of bronze on the market — plenty of collectible sculpture runs into the thousands. A smaller run simply means fewer casts will ever exist of that specific piece — a fixed number set at the foundry, not something that grows back. "Wylie," at 5.5 by 9.25 by 7.25 inches and $1,830, is a fair example of the collection's typical scale once you're past the smallest Keiki pieces — most of what's here lands somewhere in the middle, not miniature and not monumental. What's actually available Eleven of the sixteen pieces on the site currently run $1,000 to $2,500, which puts most of this line in the middle of what we sell rather than at either extreme. None of the variants here are tracked against a running stock count, so there's no shrinking number to watch — what's listed on the site is what's orderable right now. These are tabletop pieces — light enough to ship without freight, easy to place on a shelf or a desk, and a reasonable way to start a bronze collection without committing to something monumental first. Frogman Tim Cotterill

Frogman — Tim Cotterill's smallest pieces are the most affordable bronze we sell: 154 pieces live right now, $215 to $12,100, median just $1,180. If cast bronze is new to you, this is usually where I point people to start. Frogs, mostly — but not only Of the 154 pieces, 132 are frogs; the rest are geckos, owls, songbirds, a dragonfly, even a caterpillar, cast and patinaed the same way. Edition sizes run from as few as 35 casts — the blue "Bonneville" — up to 5,000 on "Little Wally." Pieces are grouped into named series: the Gems Collection, Gems Collection II, the High Tea line. The patina is worked by hand on every casting, so two pieces from the same edition never come out looking quite identical. A lot of these are genuinely small — several pieces measure under four inches in any direction. Individual pieces carry their own small stories once you look closely. "Aurora" is the sixth piece in the Gem II series, released in 2014 in an edition of 5,000. "Lucky Bug" pairs a golden frog with a ladybug — the line itself calls it, in Tim's own words, "a token of good fortune, and a special good-luck gift," released in 2010, also in an edition of 5,000. "High Tea – Tea Garden," from 2015, is built to display alongside the smaller Gem-series pieces rather than stand alone. "Bonneville," in its blue colorway, breaks from the frog format entirely — pearlescent midnight blue paint, stainless steel wheels, named for the gearhead gatherings at Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats. "Chico" is built as a wall-hanging piece rather than a tabletop one. Butterflies turn up as a recurring motif too, worked into the patina the same way the frogs themselves are. What we've learned selling these Frogman's newest addition to the line, "Joker and Jester," is a courtly pair with bold patterned patinas, sold either individually or as a matching numbered set — the same option exists on a few other pieces, like "Paperweight – Triangle." It says something about how this line actually gets bought: not always one frog at a time, but in matched pairs and small groupings that build into a bigger collection over the years. Right now 82 of our 154 listed pieces are down to one or two copies, and 4 — "Chico," "Midas Touch," "Rendezvous," and "Over the Top" — have sold out completely. Colour matters too: "The Diver" is gone in blue but still available in green, so if a particular patina is what you're after, check the variant rather than the piece. That's a lot of near-empty editions for a collection this size — worth checking on a specific piece before you commit to it. These ship easily and make an easy way to start a bronze collection a piece or two at a time rather than all at once. Collectible glass has been part of this gallery since the early years — I started Dolphin Galleries in Lahaina in March 1976, and glass was already part of what we carried not long after. John Gibbons is where that continues: hand-blown, hand-sculpted sea-life forms, no two pieces identical. Individually blown, no molds Gibbons builds his Starfish Cluster Vases by blowing each starfish arm individually and arranging them around a clear inner glass vase — no molds involved, so every piece comes out slightly different from the next. The bowls and standalone vases use a different technique: he cuts small glass rods and tiles, arranges them into a pattern, fuses them together in a 2,100-degree kiln, then rolls a blowpipe along the edge to form a cylinder, closes the bottom to create a bubble, and blows and shapes the piece from there. The glass has optical properties that make the pattern shift as you move around it. What's here now The Starfish Cluster Vase comes in thirteen colors, each offered Small (7-inch diameter, 9 inches tall, $2,200) or Large (9-inch diameter, 14 inches tall, $3,875). Beyond the starfish series there are seven standalone pieces from the same coral-reef line: the Anemone Vase ($900, 11.5 x 6 inches), the Aqua & Pale Green Bowl ($190, 10.5 x 4.5 inches), the Fruity Anemone Vase ($4,000, 17 x 10 inches), the Rainbow Bowl ($1,800, 7 x 14 inches), the Warm Blue Vase ($225, 11.5 x 4.5 inches), and the two largest in the group — Sea Collage ($4,000, 18 x 8.75 inches) and Sea Collage Orb ($3,500, 16 x 11 inches), both built from murrine, small glass disks with a pattern fused into them. Sea Collage alone carries more than a hundred of them, and each one takes several hours to make on its own. Glass ships differently than bronze or canvas — it's the one medium here where the packing matters as much as the piece itself, and every one of these leaves built into its own crate. Casey Parlette's page had no description on it before this one. Twelve pieces are live, $2,400 to $35,280, median $14,400 — and the widest material range of any sculptor we carry: carved wood, forged and welded bronze, inlaid abalone shell, and on one piece, steel and slate with no bronze at all. The subjects go past fish, too — a hermit crab, a chambered nautilus, a spiny lobster, and a trilobite are all in the current lineup. Built by hand, not cast alone Most sculptors we carry work in bronze only; Parlette starts with carved wood — curly maple for "Wahoo," curly redwood for "Barracuda," quilted maple inlaid with abalone for "Mahi Mahi" — then hammers, forges, and welds bronze for the head, teeth, or fins, finished with polished stainless steel eyes. "Finders Keepers," a hermit crab, pairs a welded bronze crab with a carved wood shell, acacia and walnut in the version we carry. "Ancient Mariner" builds a nautilus shell from exotic woods like manzanita burl around a forged bronze body. "Trilobite" breaks from all of it: hammered steel, textured copper, wenge wood, and slate. How these get ordered Five of the twelve pieces currently run $5,000 to $10,000, and another four sit between $2,500 and $5,000 — this collection leans toward mid-size single pieces rather than large multi-fish schools. None of the variants here are tracked against a running stock count, so choosing a piece comes down to size and configuration rather than watching a number count down. "Old Timer" and "Ancient Mariner" each come in two built-in scales rather than one, and the school pieces — Wahoo, Barracuda, Mahi Mahi — are ordered by fish count, three up to seven, so sizing is really part of placing the order. I carry more Alexei Butirskiy than any other painter in the gallery — 319 pieces live on the site right now — because there's no single way to describe what he does. A collector can walk in wanting a small original watercolor sketch or a large one-of-a-kind oil, and both are Butirskiy. Originals, editions, and what an artist's proof actually is This room splits into two different kinds of buying. One side is original work on paper and canvas — 60 original oils, 58 original watercolors, 25 mixed media, 12 charcoal and pencil, 6 acrylic, each a single physical piece, framed and signed. The other side is limited-edition giclée, and that's where the artist's proof comes in. An AP is a small run set aside outside the numbered edition — historically the copies an artist or publisher keeps back to check print quality before the full run ships. It's rarer than the numbered edition itself and usually priced above it for exactly that reason: in this collection, a run of 195 typically pairs with an AP of 20, a run of 395 with an AP of 40, a run of 295 with an AP of 30 — roughly a tenth the size, every time. What moves and what's already gone Cityscapes are most of what sells here — "Venetian Glow," "Mystic Falls," "Hidden Woods," "After the Storm" among them — and edition sizes on the giclées range from 23 copies up to 395. That's a wide spread for one painter, and it means two prints on the same wall can carry very different scarcity even at a similar price. Inventory tracking covers 293 of this room's 478 variants, and within that tracked set, five titles are down to their last copy — "Gondola D'Amore," "All Snowed In," "Break of Day," "Romantic Encounter," and "Daybreak." Three more have already sold out: both editions of "Memories of Paris" and the artist's proof of "Daybreak." Scale is worth thinking through separately from all of that. A third of this room, 109 pieces, is tagged small — the framed watercolor sketches mostly fall here, sized for a hallway or a stairwell rather than a single feature wall. Anne Packard

I carry Anne Packard because her scenes are the kind of thing I'd hang in my own house — beaches, dunes, a boat left alone on the sand, all in that hazy coastal light. Over fifty years of looking at marine and outdoor work, much of it from my own time sailing and diving around these islands, and Packard's is still some of the quietest work we sell. What you're buying: a giclée, not a photograph of one Every Packard piece in this room is a limited-edition giclée on canvas, and we ship it rolled inside a tube. What surprises people is that the edition sizes aren't uniform across her work — some titles run as tight as 20 copies, others go up to 295, and "Dunes" sits at 25. A few titles also carry a "Deluxe Edition" variant alongside the standard giclée — "Calm Day" is one, and its Deluxe copies have already sold through. None of that shows up in a thumbnail online, which is exactly why it's worth a call before you commit to a specific title. "Giclée" just means the print was made on a fine-art inkjet printer, spraying pigment-based ink at high resolution onto canvas rather than running it through a mechanical press. Done properly, the pigment holds its color far longer than a standard print, and the canvas weave shows through under the ink instead of sitting flat under a laminate. That's the difference between a serious reproduction and a poster — it's a controlled, direct copy of the original brushwork, not a scan blown up and printed cheap. Format matters more than people expect Ten of the 58 pieces here are square canvases, and a square painting holds a wall completely differently than the long horizontal or vertical scenes that make up the rest of the room. Sizes on offer run from 11x14 up through 36x48, so before you buy I'd rather talk through which shape and size actually fits your wall than have a piece arrive and fight the space. Jia Lu has been on our About page for years, one of the handful of painters I point to when someone asks who we actually represent. Every piece in this room is a figurative portrait — women, rendered in oil and reproduced as a giclée on canvas — and it reads differently than most of what fills this gallery. How the edition size tracks the canvas size All 39 Jia Lu pieces here ship as giclée on canvas, rolled in a tube. Look closely at the edition numbers and a pattern shows up: the bigger the canvas, the smaller the run. "Tang Dynasty" comes in two sizes — a 27 x 42 inch canvas at 268 signed-and-numbered copies plus 25 artist's proofs, and a 40 x 60 inch canvas at only 168 copies plus 15 proofs. "Stillness" does the same thing more sharply: 128 copies at 28 x 42 inches, just 38 at 40 x 60. A larger canvas costs more to print and store, so fewer get made — worth knowing if you're weighing a smaller edition against a bigger piece of wall. The notation on each listing — "268 s/n plus 25 AP" — breaks down simply enough: s/n means signed and numbered, the artist's own hand on every copy in that run, and AP is the smaller artist's proof set aside outside it. Across this room the numbered runs cluster into three tiers — 268 copies is the most common, 168 sits in the middle, and 88 is the tightest. A piece in the 88 tier is the rarest thing you can buy from this painter at a given size. Scale runs from a coaster to a doorway The smallest piece in this room, "Purity Mini," is 8 x 8 inches. The largest canvases run to 40 x 60. That's a real range to hang a decision on — an 8-inch piece works stacked with others or tucked into a hallway, a 40 x 60 needs a wall with nothing else competing for attention. Every piece in this room is different from everything else I carry: Gantner doesn't do editions. No giclées, no artist's proofs, no numbered print run — just oil on canvas, one physical painting per title, and once it's sold there isn't a second copy to offer you. Numbered, not titled You'll notice these paintings don't have names the way a Butirskiy or a Packard does — the 39 pieces here are listed as "Gantner 1308," "Gantner 1030," and so on, catalog numbers instead of titles. That's how they've always come to us and how we've always listed them. Roughly half the room, 18 pieces, carry a "House" tag; the other 18 are tagged "Nature." Nothing in this collection carries a Limited Edition or Artist Proof tag, because there's nothing to edition — what you're buying is the canvas itself, not a place in a print run. Most of what's in this room runs large — 30 x 40 and 36 x 48 are the two sizes that come up most often, with a handful smaller. That's a canvas that wants a dedicated stretch of wall, not a spot shared with other pieces, so it's worth measuring before you decide on a number. What that does to the price An original doesn't compete with a print run for value the way a giclée does — there's no question of which number out of 195 you're getting, because there's only one. That shows up in where these paintings sit price-wise: 25 of the 39 pieces here run $5,000 to $10,000, and the collection's median, $5,500, is what a one-of-a-kind oil costs against a reproduction of the same size. A smaller group, 7 of the 39, runs $2,500 to $5,000, so the room isn't only five-figure territory — but the bulk sits higher, a direct result of there being exactly one of each. That single-copy structure also changes how the room refills, or doesn't. With a giclée, once one numbered copy sells there are still others in the same run behind it; with an original, a sale just means one fewer painting exists under that catalog number, permanently. Thomas Arvid

Wine still-life realism is its own category in this gallery, and Thomas Arvid is the only painter here working at this level of detail in it — glass, reflection, the way light moves through a full bottle. It's a different kind of collecting than a coastal scene or a cityscape, and buyers who go looking for it usually already know exactly what they want. Canvas, paper, or metal — the format changes what you're buying Arvid's giclées come in three substrates, and they're not interchangeable. Canvas giclées are the standard reproduction. Paper editions carry a deckle edge — the intentionally rough, uneven border you get from fine-art printmaking paper, a signal that it's meant to be framed and matted, not stretched. Then there's sublimation on metal: the image is fused directly into a coated metal panel under heat, which gives the reds and the glass reflections a different kind of depth than ink on canvas or paper. "Count On Me" and "Puttin' on the Ritz" were both offered across all of these formats — limited edition, artist's proof, and metal — each running the same structure: 275 signed and numbered, 185 artist's proofs, and a 45-piece sublimation edition on metal. Every giclée here ships signed and numbered by hand — the artist's own signature and the run number written directly on the print, not stamped. That's standard across this room, whether the piece is on canvas, on paper, or fused into metal. Scale reads differently on a wine painting A lot of Arvid's compositions run long and low rather than square — 43 x 12 inches, 43 x 17¼ — closer to a mantel piece than a standard portrait canvas.
