With lowered head, horns angled forward, and anger lines furrowing a determined face, does ‘Raging Bull’ symbolise the power, aggression and unpredictably of market forces or of the ruling elite? Cubist fragmentation has replaced the muscular lines of Di Modica’s sculpture, and in the chrome surface viewers can see their own image reflected. Poised between conservative economic pronouncement and social satire, ‘Raging Bull’ is a familiar symbol enigmatically reworked for our time.

Todd Stuart
Todd Stuart is an Australian contemporary sculptor who works in three materials that ask for three different crafts: stainless steel polished to a mirror, silicon bronze finished in patina, and carved stone. The work runs from pieces that sit on a table to pieces taller than a doorway, and almost all of it is signed and made in small limited editions.
