Now for sale online at Dolphin Galleries! Flight (Carrara). Beguiling for the mind and yet eminently intelligible to the eye, ‘Flight’ flows in upward tending ecstasy towards an elliptical and weightlessness resolution wholly reliant upon intertwined relationships. In Gaston Bachelard’s Poetics of Space the author speaks of crystals, flowers and shells as ‘privileged forms’. In ‘Flight’ Stuart has invented a privileged form which evokes a sense of acceleration towards freedom. ‘As a bird might position itself when initiating flight,’ writes Stuart, ‘so too does this sculpture seek to soar and uplift.’

The Artist
Todd Stuart
Todd Stuart is an Australian contemporary sculptor who works in three materials that ask for three different crafts: stainless steel polished to a mirror, silicon bronze finished in patina, and carved stone. The work runs from pieces that sit on a table to pieces taller than a doorway, and almost all of it is signed and made in small limited editions.
